Spring Cleaning Checklist For Your Teeth

We have changed the clocks and we are ready to jump into Spring! For many of us, Spring is the time to get rid of clutter, get back into routine and bring in the freshness through Spring cleaning. We are here to remind you that including your dental hygiene in your Spring cleaning plans is an excellent way to boost and brighten your smile and attend to your overall health. Wondering how you can do spring cleaning for your smile?

Here are four dental Spring cleaning checklist items to attend to:

1. Replace your toothbrush

To get the most out of brushing your teeth, it is important to replace your toothbrush about every three months or when it starts to show excess wear. At Krengel Dental, we recommend changing out your toothbrush every two to three months and the start of a new season is a great time to check in. If you want to go for an even bigger boost your teeth will thank you for, try upgrading to an electric toothbrush. Designed to remove plaque and debris more effectively, getting an electric toothbrush is a great way to get that extra clean feeling and improve your dental care.

2. Upgrade your equipment

Spring is an excellent time to take inventory and make sure that your dental hygiene products are stocked, effective and attend to your personal dental hygiene needs. At Krengel Dental, we let patients know if a special kind of toothpaste, such as a fluoride toothpaste,  certain mouthwash or product can make a big difference in your smile?s health and shine. Check in with your dentist while checking your equipment and make sure your products are up to date and personalized.

3. Check in on Flossing routine

It?s never a bad time to evaluate your flossing habits and make sure you and your family are flossing, caring for your mouth and overall health. Flossing once a day is crucial to avoid increased risks of gum disease due to plaque and inflamed gums.  If you are already flossing once a day, making sure to floss at night is a helpful way to allow your mouth to be as clean and bacteria free during sleep as possible. Adding flossing to your routine or changing up the time are two excellent ways to spring into better dental hygiene. (Pun intended).

4. Book your dental check up!

They say April shower bring May flowers, and June brings the middle of the year- meaning its time to schedule your second dental check up of the year! Seeing your Krengel Dentist every six months is the best way to check for cavities, diseases or any oral health concerns and be as preventative as possible in attending to any concerns.
