Six Toothpaste Tricks: Uses For Toothpaste Other Than Brushing

We know that you know the drill when it comes to brushing at least twice a day, but today we are going to share some secrets about your partner in brushing, toothpaste. While of course, your Krengel Dental team wants to make sure you?re using your toothpaste to perfect your dental hygiene routine, our patients are family, meaning you get an in on some secret toothpaste tricks.  Here are six ways to use your toothpaste in a useful way that is not brushing.

1. Clean the carpet

Have a small carpet stain that needs to go? Squeeze a small amount of toothpaste and scrub with an old toothbrush (again, make sure it is old one), and rinse and repeat. You?ll notice a small stain disappear with some TLC and brushing with toothpaste, saving you from having to bring in the carpet cleaners.

2. Shine your jewelry

Toothpaste that is basic can act as a polish, removing any grime from jewelry that needs its shine back. Apply a small dab of toothpaste and gently scrub with an old toothbrush before rinsing  the jewelry with water and letting it dry.

3. Lessen a bug bite  burn

If you?re experiencing some itching and need something soothing to cool your skin after getting a mosquito bite, try putting a little toothpaste directly on the bug bite. Toothpaste has a cooling sensation that will provide some quick relief.

4. Fix the hole in the wall

Toothpaste has been named a cheap caulking agent and can act like spackle to  help fill small nail holes in the wall. For painted walls, make sure that the toothpaste color matches the wall or add some dye to make it match.

5. Coffee table water rings

This is a favorite toothpaste trick- using toothpaste to get rid of those annoying water stains. If you see a water stain on your coffee table, take a little bit of toothpaste and rub it onto the ring with a cloth before wiping it dry.

6. Clean the sink

If you accidentally drop a big glob of toothpaste down your sink, no harm no foul!  The toothpaste is actually a natural cleaner , working to clean and deodorize your drain! Take a cloth or old brush and scrub it around and get more bang for your back.

Now don?t forget, the most important use of your toothpaste is for your happy and healthy smile, but we are happy to give you some tools and tricks to keep up your sleeve.
