How to Celebrate National Dental Hygiene Month

There’s nothing better than a clean, healthy month! That’s why we are so excited to celebrate National Dental Hygiene Month all month long. This month is dedicated to promoting healthy mouths across the country, and celebrating all of the hard work you and your dental hygienist put into keeping your pearly whites healthy and strong. While we think dental health should be celebrated every single day, we are so excited to have an entire month to celebrate healthy mouths.

Here are some of the ways we recommend you celebrate National Dental Hygiene Month this October.

Brush your teeth twice a day

Raise your hand if you’re guilty of skipping that evening brush every now and then. Don’t worry — you’re not alone. However, brushing your teeth twice a day is much more than ensuring you have fresh breath for the day, it helps reduce your chances of getting gum disease as well! And that evening brush is particularly important as it helps remove all food waste from your teeth and reduces your risk of getting a cavity. So, in honor of National Dental Hygiene Month, make sure to get a solid, two-minute brushing in twice a day.

Floss daily

Let’s be honest – there are just some things your toothbrush misses and that’s where floss comes in. Regular flossing, similar to brushing, reduces your risk of gum disease by removing the plaque that forms along your gumline.

Use mouthwash

Ask your dental hygienist — mouthwash isn’t optional! Aim to making rinsing with mouthwash a daily habit this month. This small habit will help keep your mouth even cleaner and do wonders for any bad breath you might be suffering from.
