Everything You Need to Know About Your Child’s Invisalign Consultation

Walking into an Invisalign consultation can be nerve-wracking when you and your child do not know what to expect. With the proper resources to prepare for the consultation, you can walk into our office feeling confident about the process. Read on for everything you need to know.

The initial consultation gives you the opportunity to find out more about your doctor and what their care philosophy is. Before committing to treatment, consider if the doctor-patient relationship is right for you!

New Patient Paperwork

Filling out paperwork is a prerequisite of visiting a new dental office. The basic intake forms will require personal and contact information. The medical and dental history forms are there to evaluate your health and determine if your child is a proper candidate for Invisalign. Lastly, your dental insurance will also be evaluated through paperwork.

Treatment Coordinator Introduction

Before seeing the dentist, you will be greeted by a dental assistant. This individual may perform initial x-rays, images, and scans of the current state of your child’s teeth. Once this process has been completed, the assistant will relay the information to your doctor and your child is now ready to be seen.

Doctor Examination

The dentist will want to ensure you both feel comfortable and welcome in their office. Meeting the dentist will likely begin with small talk before the questions start. Make sure to focus and listen to determine if working with this doctor will be a good fit.

Once questions have been asked and answered, the examination will now begin. Within the mouth, your child’s tooth position, gums, throat, and tonsils will be checked.

Treatment Plan

Utilizing data gathered from examination, the doctor will create a treatment plan. This plan will outline issues the doctor plans to fix during treatment and serves as a roadmap for the entire treatment process. Unfortunately, we cannot provide an exact timeline of how long your child will need Invisalign for as this experience varies from patient to patient.

Following your child’s Invisalign consultation you might still have lingering questions. Contact the office you visited in order to receive educated responses.
