Easy Ways to Keep Up Your Dental Health During COVID-19

Dental care can be a little tricky during this pandemic. To protect both patients and staff, the CDC recommends dental offices to postpone non-urgent dental visits and prioritize emergencies. While we miss our patients, we are proud to do our part in flattening the curve and keeping you and our valued workers safe.

With that being said, dental care and hygiene are just as important to upkeep! Here are some easy ways you can ensure your smile stays clean and healthy:

Brush Your Teeth Regularly

Here is your friendly reminder to brush your teeth at least twice a day! We recommend doing so once in the morning and once before bed. This simple habit will do wonders, including preventing tooth decay and gum disease!

Don’t Forget Your Tongue

Your tongue plays a large role in your oral health! Avoid plaque build up by including it in your brushing routine.

Flossing Is Your Mouth’s Best Friend

What is just as important as brushing your teeth and tongue? Flossing, of course! This stimulates your gums, reduces plaque, and helps to lower inflammation. Don’t miss out on these fantastic benefits!

Use Mouthwash

Give it up for this incredibly helpful tool! Swish your dentist-recommended mouthwash for 30 seconds to reduce the amount of acid in your mouth and give those hard-to-brush areas a good clean. Reduce bacteria, clean your gums, and remineralize your teeth in one go!

Drink More Water

Amongst the many health benefits of drinking enough water, your teeth need it, too! Water can help to keep your mouth nice and clean by washing away some of the negative effects of some food, such as candy and soda.

Cut Down the Sugar

Did you know that sugar turns into acid in your mouth? This can erode the enamel of your teeth, which can lead to cavities. Inherently acidic foods, such as fruit, can do the same thing. We recommend staying mindful of your diet to ensure a healthy, happy mouth.

Foods Your Teeth will Love

Give your teeth the benefit of health foods like carrots, apples and greens! Carrots and apples and known to be full of vitamins, but they help to clean your teeth, too! Also, be sure to incorporate lots of greens into your diet for a boost of calcium, folic acid and vitamin B.
