At Krengel Dental, we strive to give you the best dental care possible. Because of this, we believe using new dental technology and staying up-to-date on the latest dental care advances is essential for keeping you at your healthiest. Here are a few new dental technologies that we use at our dental clinics in St. Louis Park and Bloomington, MN.
New Dental Technology for Standard Teeth Cleanings
If you visit us for a regular checkup, chances are we might use the following dental technologies during your teeth cleaning. Here’s what you need to know about them!
iTero Scanner
During a checkup, we may use an iTero Scanner to scan your mouth. It gives us the capability of visualizing restorative dental treatments you may need—crowns, bridges, veneers, Invisalign, and more—more effectively. Not only does it create a visualization of your mouth, but it comes with time-lapse technology, so you can see how you will adapt to treatments months and years down the line.
Thanks to this technology, we won’t need to take impressions of your teeth, so there’s no goopy mess to deal with! And best of all, it is radiation-free, so it can safely be used by everyone, including those who are pregnant.
Intra-Oral Camera
We often use an intra-oral camera to take photos of oral structures inside your mouth during checkups. This is for effective patient record keeping and to educate you on any problems we may find. It helps us find oral problems like gum disease and tooth decay earlier than we would with traditional methods.
Cavitron
Cavitron uses sound waves to remove plaque, calculus, and stains from your teeth. During your teeth cleaning, sonic vibrations help loosen any built-up plaque or tartar, and water is used to wash away anything that we remove. It helps prevent gum disease and cavities and our patients find it more comfortable than manual hand scaling.
Pearl Artificial Intelligence
After you take an x-ray during a check-up, we often use Pearl, a new dental technology, to analyze your imaging. Pearl will look for signs of tooth decay and other dental diseases and grade them in color on your imaging. Since we see so many patients each day, we use it as a second opinion so we don’t miss anything. We still use our years of dental knowledge to cross reference its findings. 3D CBCT
A 3D CBCT or Cone Beam Computed Tomography Scan is a type of x-ray that we use to see 3D images of your teeth, jawbones, and surrounding areas. This new dental technology is helpful for planning dental procedures like dental implants, bone grafts, or wisdom teeth surgery, should you need them. When doing this scan, it only takes a few minutes and uses significantly less radiation than traditional CT scans. Its imaging is also superior to traditional x-rays, providing us with detailed, high-resolution images.
