If you’re looking for fun, educational dental health activities for kids this summer, here are some that will teach your kids about the importance of oral health. Let us know if you try any of these!
Dental Health Activities for Kids
Playdough Flossing Activity
If you’re looking to practice flossing with your preschooler this summer, this is a great activity for that. All you need is:
- Ice cube tray
- Play dough
- Pipe cleaner
To play, you’ll flip the ice cube tray upside down and put playdough in between the cubes. Your toddler or kindergartner will then use a pipe cleaner to try to get the playdough out! You can time your kids to see who can do it the fastest.

Free Dental Coloring Pages and Activities
There are many free dental activity sheets out there for coloring, learning dental vocabulary, learning tooth facts, and more! Here are some pediatric dentistry activity sheets that you can download and print right from home!
Egg Carton Toothbrush Painting
Teach your kids how to hold and use a toothbrush by having them paint a used egg carton white! Since an egg carton is shaped like teeth, you can teach them different techniques for brushing harder-to-reach parts of their teeth.
All you need to do this activity is:
- Egg carton(s) (can cut egg cartons in half for multiple kids)
- Old toothbrushes
- White paint or toothpaste
- Scissors if cutting the egg cartons

Playdough Mats
This dental health activity for kids also uses playdough and it’s great for their fine-motor and art skills. Have your kids roll up playdough snakes to make dental items like teeth, floss, toothbrushes, and mouths. It’s a fun way to teach your kids about oral health!
