Here’s everything you need to know about receiving a Zoom Whitening treatment at Krengel Dental!

What Is Zoom Whitening?

Zoom Whitening uses a special bleaching process that will brighten your enamel and dentin. This will get rid of common stains on your teeth that can come from food and drink such as tobacco, wine, tea, and coffee.

Zoom Whitening Process

Consultation

Your dentist will speak with you to make sure you don’t have a history of teeth sensitivity issues before we start the process.

Preparation

Before we start the teeth whitening process, your dentist will cover your gums and lips so they don’t touch the whitening gel.

Application

Next, your dentist will apply the whitening gel to your teeth. This is a hydrogen peroxide-based gel.

Activation

In order to activate the hydrogen peroxide in the whitening gel, we’ll use a special Zoom light, called the Zoom Advanced Power Chairside Lamp. This advanced blue LED light-accelerated whitening will break down the hydrogen peroxide which will allow oxygen to enter and bleach your stained teeth.

Sessions

We’ll do multiple sessions to make sure we break down any stains on your teeth. Usually, this takes three 15-minute sessions, which in total will take 45 minutes to an hour.

What Are the Benefits of Zoom Whitening?

Minimal Time Needed

Unlike over-the-counter teeth whitening strips, which will take several sessions to whiten your teeth, in-office Zoom Whitening is completed in one day. Many of our patients are happy with the results you can achieve in just one visit with us.

It’s Effective

Zoom Whitening will lighten your teeth several shades in one day.

It Can Help Build Confidence

Getting rid of stains on your teeth will help you feel more confident in your smile. From special events to your daily life, this will help you build confidence over time that will also help you feel happier and more outgoing.

It’s Safe

When you come in for teeth whitening in our office, you won’t have to worry about following teeth whitening directions incorrectly. We’ll ensure that the whitening process is safe and effective. In addition, Zoom is the only teeth whitening formula that contains relief ACP. This will help protect your enamel. Lastly, this treatment has no adverse effect on existing restorations (fillings or crowns).

Things to Consider

Tooth Sensitivity

As with any teeth whitening treatment, tooth sensitivity or gum irritation may occur post-application. In order to avoid this, we recommend avoiding hot and cold food and beverages, as this can make your teeth more sensitive. We also recommend using a soft-bristled toothbrush to avoid irritating your gums and teeth further. Lastly, you can rinse with a fluoride mouthwash to help strengthen your teeth.

Results Are Not Permanent

After completing this treatment, we cannot guarantee that results will be permanent. Whitening will fade over time, especially if you consume food and drink that will stain your teeth.

To prolong your results, we recommend visiting your dentist regularly for bi-annual teeth cleanings, brushing and flossing your teeth twice daily, and avoiding food/drink that will stain your teeth. It can also help to use a whitening toothpaste and toothbrush in your daily routine.

Cost

Zoom Whitening may be more expensive than over-the-counter teeth whitening strips. However, it is safer and can be more effective.
