Give Thanks to Your Teeth: Four Foods to Feast on For a Healthy Smile

With so many wonderful patients, we have a lot to be thankful for each year at Krengel Dental, making Thanksgiving one of our favorite holidays. Something to always be thankful for is a healthy and strong smile that sparkles. To add to the gratitude, there are several traditional Thanksgiving foods to feast on that favor your dental health. Here are four foods to add to the menu that your teeth will thank you for this Thanksgiving.

1Go for the Gobble Gobble

For all of our Turkey lovers, your teeth are in favor of Thanksgiving?s star dish. Packed with protein, turkey helps keep your bones strong, including your jaw and teeth– keeping the structure of your smile and tooth alignment strong.

2. Get your greens

A Thanksgiving plate full of color is one of the easiest way to ensure you?re getting a good source of vitamins– especially when there is a lot of green. Green beans, spinach and brussels sprouts have high levels of folic acid, helping to prevent gum disease, and calcium, keeping tooth enamel strong.

3. Keep passing the cranberries

There is good news about this staple for your Thanksgiving table– Cranberries are loaded with polyphenols, a micronutrient that keeps bacteria from sticking to your teeth for too long, helping in the fight against cavities. Show your teeth an extra dose of gratitude and cut back on adding too much (if any) sugar to your cranberry dish.

4. Orange you glad it?s Thanksgiving?

Turns out, your smile is a big fan of the orange vegetables that bring the Thanksgiving table together. Yams, squash, pumpkin, sweet potato and carrots are full of vitamin A which is a key component in keeping tooth enamel strong. Enjoy a few extra servings of fall?s favorite vegetables to strengthen your smile

Wishing your family and friends a Thanksgiving holiday that is full of surrounding smiles. Our Krengel Dental team would like to thank you for trusting our team with your dental care giving us a reason to be grateful every day.
