You may have a little more time on your hands the next couple of weeks, which might make it the perfect time to bring out your inner Julia Child. During your time cooped up, we wanted to share some teeth-healthy recipes that will make staying home fun! Restaurants might be closed, but that doesn?t mean you can?t make something equally (or more) delicious in your own kitchen. Here are some recipes we?ve rounded up with ingredients you can most likely find in your fridge or pantry:

Black Bean-Brown Rice Burgers

This recipe is filled with vitamin B3 and phosphorus, which will keep your enamel and gums strong.  

Ingredients:

  • ? cup uncooked brown rice
  • 1 cup (15 ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup small onion, chopped (white or yellow)
  • 1 cup garlic clove, minced
  • 1 cup frozen corn
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • cayenne pepper (to taste)
  • ? teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 egg
  • ? cup breadcrumbs (preferably seasoned)

Almond Cookies With Xylitol 

Xylitol is a great alternative to sugar when you are baking because it prevents tooth decay and bacteria growth. 

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups coconut oil
  • 1? cups xylitol
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon maple extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • A handful of whole almonds

Eggplant Pizzas

Starch is a major contributor to tooth decay. Give this classic a twist by switching out the starchy crust for eggplant! 

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium eggplants
  • 1 lb Roma tomatoes
  • 2 cups grated cheese
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Oregano
  • Basil
  • Olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic

Crunchy Fruit Salad 

Healthy foods that crunch make your teeth happy because of the saliva that is produced. The more saliva in your mouth, the less bacteria. 

Ingredients:

  • 3 chopped apples
  • 3 chopped pairs
  • 2/3 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves

Banana Nut Muffins 

This low sugar dessert also has walnuts which are high in fiber, keeping your gums and teeth sparkly and clean. 

Ingredients:

  • Gluten-free oats
  • 2 teaspoons of baking soda
  • ? teaspoon sea salt
  • ? tablespoon cinnamon
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1 medium apple
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
