Say ?Be Mine? to Healthy Teeth this Valentine?s Day??

Valentine?s Day is upon us and all of us at Krengel Dental are very excited. It?s a holiday centered around love, and our profession is dedicated to loving one thing?teeth! We want you to enjoy all of the chocolate-covered strawberries and sweethearts you desire, while keeping your teeth in your heart. Here are some tips to show your pearly whites some love this Valentine?s Day.

  • It?s Hard to Say ?No? to Chocolate?

So don?t! Chocolate that is solid without the chewy inside has less of a tendency to leave buildup on your teeth. Dark chocolate is even better for your oral health because it contains less sugar than other types of chocolate. Don?t be afraid to get your fix!

If you are gifting chocolate, choose a high quality brand that contains more than 50% cocoa. This will ensure that it is free from additives that can hurt your teeth.

  • Smooching Safety!

Valentine?s Day is a popular time to smooch your sweetheart?romance is a big part of the day! This being said, be cautious of the germs that may pass between person to person. Cavities can be contagious, so check-in with your special someone to make sure their chompers are doing okay. We recommend saying something like this: ?You look very nice tonight, and your teeth do too. Do you brush and floss two times a day??

  • Replenish Those Teeth!

After the night is over, be sure to balance out the candy you ate throughout the day with high alkaline foods, such as vegetables. Drinking water, brushing your teeth for 2 minutes, and flossing are the perfect way to end the day.

We at Krengel Dental hope you have a Valentine?s Day filled with lots of love! If you have any questions regarding oral care or you are wanting to schedule your next dental appointment, give us a call at (952) 888-1311.
